          Medical Receptionist

          (Part-Time 15 hrs/week)   

 

Position Summary

Welcomes patients and FLEC visitors; performs intake process with patients; answers the telephone and promptly returns calls as needed; and interfaces with volunteers and Clinic staff

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, their families, and FLEC visitors
  • Answer telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate staff member
  • Take and distribute telephone messages
  • In coordination with the Clinic Supervisor, schedule patient regular and follow-up appointments
  • Call patients from the waiting list to schedule their appointments
  • Place reminder calls to patients regarding upcoming FLEC appointments
  • Interface with volunteers as needed and remind them of their upcoming schedules
  • Screen patients for eligibility qualifications both over the telephone or in person before appointment
  • Verify patient forms are properly completed for all new and yearly patients
  • Facilitate communications with health care providers regarding patients’ needs, records, etc.
  • Ensure incoming referrals are received in an accurate detailed manner and are properly handled
  • Fax medical records to primary or referring physicians
  • Scan documents into electronic health records system
  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion
  • Sort and distribute US mail to the staff
  • Perform other related duties and activities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Speak Spanish fluently
  • Possess a “can do” attitude, and effectively interacts with FLEC doctors, volunteers, employees, and patients
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Show concern for people and practices good listening skills

Reports to:  The FLEC Clinic Supervisor

 

Educational and Other Requirements

High school degree and general office experience
